Tape machines, a borrowed Juno and a room that refused to stay quiet. A look behind the record: how six people tracked eleven songs live in a Brooklyn winter without losing the room sound.
The rules were simple. Everyone in the room, every take. No click on the slow songs. The Juno stayed even when it drifted — especially when it drifted. Mara and Theo tracked bass and drums as a pair, and half of what you hear on the album is first or second takes.
The full photo diary and gear list are in the gallery, and the CD edition carries a 24-page zine of session notes for the truly committed.
